i-Volve Car Polishing Machines
Car polishing machines are favoured by both professional and enthusiast car detailers. i-Volve offers a range of car polishing machines that meet all the requirements of any car detailer.
We have a thorough understanding of car detailing and have many years of experience in the industry. We supply car polishing machines to OEMs, auto repair facilities and to amateur enthusiasts.
Dual Action (DA) and Rotary Car Polishing Machines
i-Volve offers both DA and rotary car polishing machines. Rotary car polishing machines tend to be favoured by professionals as they work much faster. However, they require a certain level of skill and knowledge to be used effectively. In the wrong hands rotary car polishing machines can burn through the paint and cause more problems than they solve.
DAs are also known as random orbital car polishing machines because they spin in a concentric circular action. The spindle on which they turn rotates in a wider circular motion and feels a bit wobbly to the user. These car polishing machines were originally created for an amateur car detailer as they generate less heat and are less likely to burn through the paint.
i-Volve’s DA car polishers, when combined with the correct polish pads and compounds, can achieve the same results as a rotary car polisher. We recommend that you use Scholl Concept polish compounds and waxes together with their polishing pads. These can be ordered online from Car Detailing. CLICK HERE
Understanding car paint work when using a car polishing machine
The technology used to paint a vehicle has become increasingly more complex resulting in a better than ever look and a better protection of the metalwork.
There is are 2 paint types. Basecoat clearcoat paint (two-stage) and a 2K paint (single stage). OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer ) use basecoat clearcoat system.
There are typically three layers in a vehicle’s paintwork. The first coat is the primer. Like all primers it is manufactured not for aesthetics but for durability and to ensure that the colour coat adheres effectively.
The second layer is the colour coating, also known as the basecoat. The thickness of this layer depends on the type of car and the manufacturer.
Thirdly, as a protection for the basecoat (colour coating), a clearcoat is applied. The clearcoat contains some form of UV protection. The objective of the clearcoat is to improve the colour and gloss of the basecoat and to offer a measure of protection from scratches, oxidisation and atmospheric fallout.
When using car polishing machines it is always a good idea to find out more about the clearcoat of the car that is being detailed.
The hardness of clearcoats varies tremendously from manufacturer to manufacturer. Hard clearcoats require more polishing but soft clearcoats are more difficult to correct.
Thus applying the right compound and waxes becomes very important.
